| By challenging you
to involve every aspect of your being, Mariko encourages you
to discover and approach your “edge” with mindfulness,
playfulness, and courage.
All the while, the fact that the physical practice of yoga
is an integral part of a comprehensive philosophy of life
and a spiritual path is never forgotten.
Mariko’s teaching style is a blend of ‘hatha’
and vinyasa.
Using the stillness of postures to examine the physical and
energy principles involved, she teaches how to use these very
principles to make a, safe, intelligent and graceful transition
from one posture to the next.
The sense of lyricism and flow to the sequencing of each
class is a distinct feature of Mariko’s classes. This
“flow” aspect of class enables the practitioner
to maintain an unbroken stream of focus that is the very essence
of the Yoga process.
Training our attention in this way teaches us how to develop
“skill
in action”, economizing on the use of our
energy so that it can be channeled in the right direction.
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, the
need to continuously renew one’s commitment to, and
celebrate the journey of life is present in all.
Responding to this inner urge is what gives beauty, meaning,
and depth to our practice.
The more transparent to ourselves we become in our practice,
the more our practice itself will begin to guide us in life.
Yoga opens the inner eye, and revolutionizes the way one
perceives life. An ancient Indian scripture proclaims, “Yogic
realizations are amazing”!*
